Recently, The Charter Cable Company signed a deal with Madison Fox Affiliate which would allow it to broadcast Channel 47 (WMSN) in High Definition Television (HDTV).  HDTV enthusiasts in Madison, Wisconsin are jumping for joy.  Prior to this deal, Charter Cable Company was broadcasting WMSN in analog format.

What is all the hoopla about? Is HDTV really such a big deal and can you really see a difference?   Actually there is a difference.  HDTV has some features that are not found in conventional television. For example, HDTV is capable of offering a theater-like experience in visual effects as well as in audio.  Charter Cable Company offers HDTV in Dolby Digital Surround Sound.  The picture quality has 5x more clarity than that of conventional TV.   How is that for a difference?

Charter Cable Company offers HDTV to all of its digital subscribers.  You cannot use HDTV with basic and expanded cable.  Charter Cable Company’s HDTV comes without the high costs that are associated with other providers.  Local networks that already broadcast in HDTV are included in the package along with premium channels such as HBO.  Cancellation is allowed at any time without any fees.
